Help! I want to add an artist/song, but I don't know how
Are we missing a song you want? Request it!

(Moved from Talk:Main Page)
No direct objections, but you'd need a definition of what constitutes "Beginner", "Intermediate", and "Advanced".

Also, we should a category "Artists" and add all artist pages to it. We could then remove the artist index pages and just use the categories. Easier maintained. John (talk) 01:01, 18 Jul 2005 (EDT)

As Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Goes, so far I've been very qualitative. But to improve that accuracy while still making it simple for new users to understand, thats going to be a challenge. I can think of a few stats which would go into a accurate skill level categorization: Beats per minute, largest stretch (of fingers durring a chord), largest bend, and whether or not it has more advanced techniques such as squeels and artificial harmonics. So using these variables one way to score the pages would be by following an equation like this:

  A x BpM
+ B x (# of fret difference between lowest and highest note in largest stretch)
+ C x (# of frets bent up in largest bend)
+ D x (# of advanced techniques used in the song)
where A, B, C, and D are weighting constants

I know this mathematical model is far to hard for the average newb and also doesn't take into account fingering difficulties in some chords other then those with large stretches and therefore is impractical but it proves the difficulty found in trying to create a systematic method of mesurment of skill level.

The method outlined by me above on retrospect is one of the most stupidly complex things i've seen in my life. After much thought I think I've come up with something more practical; We will simply declare one song as the 'easiest' intermediate song. Then all artists who's majority of songs are easier then that are beginner and all harder artists are intermediate. Then we do the same with a 'hardest' intermediate song.

So here's my nominees for the hardest songs:
