Help! I want to add an artist/song, but I don't know how
Are we missing a song you want? Request it!
Artist Focus?
One idea I have is something like "Artist Focus". For example, one week we could focus on one particular artist, seeking to complete as many correct tabs as possible for that one artist. I think this will achieve a few goals:
1. we will have more or fully complete catalogs of individual artists
2. this will encourage discussion and cooperation between tabbers (as they have a specific project to work on)
3. new tabs will be more correct, or at least checked by multiple people
After thinking it through, it would probably be more practical to go by album... or at least until participation increases.

Hey Josh! I think this could be a great idea as well. What artists are you most interested in contributing to? I'd be happy to help out in cases where I am familiar with the artist. Thus far, I haven't contributed overwhelmingly to any given artist, but have been trying to properly organize the fingerpicking tabs currently in place in terms of categorization by completeness and correctness, tuning, etc. I'd be open to suggestions!

Well, I see a potential dilemma with this plan. For example, I would be really interested in focusing on Phil Keaggy, but that doesn't really help much, seeing as how he's been recording for forty-something years. I think that applies to most "fingerpicking" artists; basically, they have so many songs that it doesn't really focus our efforts. And then there are plenty of bands that have fingerpicking segments in a few of their songs, but I can't really think of bands that have a good portion of fingerpicking that would be worth focusing on. Thoughts?

I have been thinking about the artist idea and I see that it may be a tough route to go right now, with only three possibly contributors. For me to tab out vast parts of a song, I really need to be inspired to do so since it takes a lot of work to write it down. Different members may be interested in tabbing out artists at any specific times. Perhaps we can all work on what artists interest us at any given time, but just make an effort to categorize relevant tablature in this category as we review it -- what I mean is, if you play some fingerpicking tab and notice that the skill level has not yet been indicated, maybe you could make a suggestion by tagging it appropriately.
Another idea is to pay careful attention to whether posted tabs are complete/incomplete and correct/incorrect and tagging it appropriately. I know that even if I am not particularly inspired to tab out a song for a certain artist at some given time, should somebody tag a song as "incorrect" or "incomplete", it would offer more encouragement to contribute. At the very least, I can guarantee that I would look over the tab to see if there is anything obvious I can do to help out.
What do you think of that idea?

I think that is a great idea I think it would certaintly help out people.I think artist focus would also be good thing to do, You could study that paticular artists techniques for a week and then after the week is over put that lesson in an archive so if someone wants to study them they can.Oysterguitarist 00:56, 1 Jun 2007 (UTC)
I like this idea, and yet sympathize with the view that we don't have the manpower to properly accommodate it. I like the idea of focusing out efforts to smaller chunks, so the album-focus concept works well. Is it worth considering having a song of the day, perhaps, with an artist theme? As we get more people, we could make it the album of the week, and then eventually expand to artist-wide focus?

So, is anybody still interested in this? I found an artist that we could try this out on. --Joshcabrera 02:55, 15 Jul 2007 (UTC)
- Why not let's try it out. Oysterguitarist 03:18, 15 Jul 2007 (UTC)
Ok, his name is Andrew Osenga and he has a free album available on his website (google it). It's six tracks of just acoustic guitar and vocals, and it's not too complicated. I propose that we use this week coming up (july 15-21) to see if we can tab the whole thing. --Joshcabrera 03:33, 15 Jul 2007 (UTC)
Adding myself to this group?
How do I add myself to this group?
I clicked on the link [said "add your name to the list" or something, blue, above the list at the bottom of the page?], and added my name there.
But it didn't show up on the main page, and I can't figure out what else I can do?
