4 String

Standard Tuning on a 4 string bass is, from low to high, E A D G

5 String

Standard Tuning on a 5 string bass is, from low to high, B E A D G

note: some people tune 5 string bass with an extra high string instead of the low B in which case the tuning from low to high is E A D G C.

6 String

Standard Tuning on a 6 string bass is, from low to high, B E A D G C

8 String

An eight-string bass is really like a 4-string bass, but with a second string doubling each of those four strings. The doubling string is tuned an octave higher. The result is:
