Tuning

Tuning a Whole Step Down is, from low to high, D G C F A d. It is, as the name in implies, Standard Tuning down one full step. It is sometimes referred to as D Tuning because it is based on D rather than E.

Since the strings are tuned the same relative to Standard Tuning, all standard chord shapes apply, with the difference that they are a whole step lower. When you play an A chord shape, for example, you are really playing an G.
