I agree that this could cause problems on some pages, and initially i set it up so that it was only on pages with wikipedia articles. I've got a potential solution that I'm going to try out. Basically we create an if statement by splitting the template up into 3 pages. Although div class=hidden works in wikipedia for if statements that won't work here because of software version differences. Anyways I'll let you know how it goes. --Diploid 03:29, 2 Apr 2006 (EDT)

Never Mind, it didn't work (wikipedia rejects urls with the { } brackets in them). If you've got any ideas go for it, but i'm stumped until we upgrade the servers.--Diploid 03:47, 2 Apr 2006 (EDT)

Yah, using {{{variable_name}}} is the standard way templates work and we already use it in the song template the problem here is that if there is no wikipedia article we don't want a useless link showing up on the page. For example, if we to were replace the

Wikipedia has an article on
{{PAGENAME}}

with

Wikipedia has an article on
{{{1}}}

then we would have fixed the issue of wikipedia artists who's page names are different then tabwiki's, but we'd still have the issue of pages where there is no wikipedia article for the artist and we'd also have the additional issue of changing all the previously added wikipedia templates to {{wikipedia|BAND NAME}}. --15:44, 2 Apr 2006 (EDT)
